Brandon is an outstanding employee, tightly aligned with the mission and aims of Brigham Young University. He has been a key employee in OIT for many years. Over the past couple of years he has consistently demonstrated "above and beyond" service as he has helped lead overall efforts on Program Granite (Workday implementation). His level of work ethic and dedication to a team effort are significant and unique. He is helping to ensure a successful ERP implementation in an extremely complicated environment.
Brandon is overseeing Program Granite which is implementing Workday as the new Finance and HR system for BYU. The impact of this change touches all of campus and is the largest IT project ever done in the Church Educational System. Not only has he done an exceptional job but has done so as an example of everything that the university stands for. From the outset he sought Inspiring Learning opportunities for students, established a belonging atmosphere, and led in a Christ-like fashion in every decision and process.
Brandon has the right demeanor to lead this endeavor as he draws people to him for weighing decision options, handling difficult situations and keeping focus in the right areas. His mentoring ranges from student employees, functional team members, to President’s Council. Brandon has a keen sense of priorities and knowing what work has value. With this perception, he uses relationship power to encourage work to proceed in the right order, mentors task owners on how to perform next steps, follows up on delivery, and has the right demeanor for BYU culture.
Brandon Groves is able in a university setting to focus dialogue, establish Granite’s perspective, set priorities, and protect scope resulting in responsible use of sacred resources and delivering results. Our implementation partner, Cognizant Solutions, recognizes that BYU is a unicorn among their many customers as we are exceeding expectations with our Workday implementation. However, beyond just project work, we have created a space for respect and belonging among all individuals including those from Cognizant working closely with us. They sense that BYU is different than all their other customers and want to be a part of our implementation. Brandon has created this culture of belonging for all. From a teamwork perspective, Program Granite combined resources from Finance, HR, Enrollment Services, OIT and other parts of campus. A new vibe and culture was created where all involved have found this to be a highlight of their career. The spirit of teamwork has formed through tight knit workstream teams, all-hands, celebrations, and strong relationships.
