Sherami adds value to BYU as she serves in the Humanities Deans office as well as directs the Liberal Arts Advisement and Careers (LAAC). She prioritizes students and employees’ needs above her own and works long hours even after she has arrived home to take care of her own family. Sherami strives to help her advisors develop professionally, making sure they have proper training and updated information needed for their positions. She continually talks about the AIMS of BYU and the LAAC’s Mission and Vision. As a director, Sherami has the ability to make each of her co-workers feel like they are thriving. She takes the time to talk with them about personal or professional issues they are having. She sets boundaries but is empathetic and kind. She is a beloved supervisor to many!
Sherami is a committed, resilient, and inspired leader who places students first as she manages an advisement and career center serving the needs of 20% of BYU students. Her consecration of energy, time, and talent is an example to her staff, students, and faculty in two of the largest colleges at BYU. She masterfully teaches, delegates, and sustains as she directs efforts to prepare students for career readiness, builds ties between them and alumni, and communicates to the university and community the value of a liberal arts education. Thousands of students are better off every year because of what she does.
Sherami is continually improving the way students are advised and prepared, teaching competency-focused awareness while making everyone feel like they belong. She builds her team through connecting them and challenging them; is conscientious in her use of resources, but clear in seeking resources to make the most difference to students. She is the most responsible person I know on campus, does what she says she will do, and is fully competent as she continues to develop professionally and represent BYU positively in a number of national and international organizations. Above all, she comes back from her interactions with new ideas that she eagerly and successfully implements to improve the working of her unit.

She amplifies service through clear communication, setting thoughtful goals, and providing consistent, constructive feedback. By empowering her staff, fostering collaboration, and skillfully resolving challenges, Sherami ensures that our team runs smoothly while keeping morale high. Her ability to anticipate issues and address them head-on drives both team growth and institutional success.
